Ingrid's Lab finds out research on memory recovery and publishes international journal

There are more than 290,000 people with dementia in Taiwan, among which Alzheimer's disease has the highest proportion. The molecular neurology experimental team of Tzu Chi University recently proposed a mechanism that can help Alzheimer's mice recover working memory, which was published in an international journal , providing new opportunities for research.

The main symptom of Alzheimer's disease is memory deterioration, and many scientists want to find out how to activate memory in the brain.

Liu Yijun, President of Tzu Chi University: "To regulate these two functions, increase the function of autophagy, reduce the inflammatory response, and bring it to a more balanced state. We found that the working memory of the mice came back."

The Molecular Neurology Laboratory of Tzu Chi University focuses on studying the molecular mechanisms of memory formation and degradation. A few days ago, the team fed Alzheimer's mice with Chinese herbal extracts and found that it can effectively inhibit the inflammatory response and improve the working memory of the mice.

Liu Yijun, President of Tzu Chi University: "When we added an effective compound, its long-term memory improved like that of a normal mouse. This is a good cytological evidence, which promotes the conduction rate of cells, so nerve conduction becomes effective." Efficiency improves, and memory naturally improves.”

The Chinese herbal extract is in the process of patent application, and this paper has also been published in international journals. The main author is Pavi, who came from India to study at Ciudad University. In the team, she learned the spirit of perseverance as a scientist.

Pavithra Suresh, a doctoral student at Tzu Chi University of Medicine: "I think patience is the most important thing for a doctoral student. The relationship between our team is very good. When my paper was published last week, they were happier than myself. Friendship is very important to me. It is the most beautiful thing.”

The team looks forward to finding more mechanisms for reversing Alzheimer's memory deficits in the future to benefit more people.
